The tour starts at the venue 'de Doelen' where the guide will pick you up and take us for a subway ride for the embankment of the Waterbus. This Waterbus will bring us upstream the river Maas to Kinderdijk, where you can stroll along the mills with the turning sails and the creaking of wooden machines.
In Kinderdijk you are in the middle of Dutch history. Everything here is below sea level, so we Dutchmen have learned to work with water and wind for centuries to keep things dry. Kinderdijk has been a UNESCO World Heritage since 1997. A mill complex like Kinderdijk is unique and nowhere to be found in the world. The story of Kinderdijk is thus included in world history and safely kept for future generations.
The tour is ended with the return trip by Waterbus to the hotspot 'Fenix Food Factory' in Rotterdam for a tasting of cheeses at Booij Kaasmakers. All cheeses offered are produced by themselves on a cheese farm near Rotterdam. Fenix Food Factory is a great place to enjoy lunch, or you could walk a little further to Steam Ship 'Rotterdam' or go to the famous Hotel New York.
Waterbus, entrance Kinderdijk and tasting of cheese included.
Pitstop for coffee/drink/snack(-to-go) can be incorporated, at own expenses.
